Description

BRADFORD PEVERELL SY 69 SW MUCKLEFORD 6/11 Muckleford Farmhouse 26-1-56 GV II Detached Farmhouse. Late C17, with C18 extension at east end, and late C18 addition at rear of this, (North-east). Banded flint and stone, rubble-stone and brick walls. Slate roof with stone gable-copings and moulded kneelers. Brick stacks at left hand gable, on ridge right of centre, and right hand gable. 2 storeys, 4 windows 3-light C19 iron casements with leaded lights in wooden frames, 2-light at east end. Sash window at ground floor bay 2, of 20 panes with intersecting glazing-bars at head. Blocked doorway, between windows 1 and- 2, filled with flint and rubble. Rear elevations: north-east wing in brick- and-flint banding, Flemish bond brickwork with plat band. Present main entrance at rear, C20 porch having a stone gable-coping with cross over. 6-panel door and fanlight over, C20. Pentice-roofed outshut runs most of rear wall, to which the porch is attached. Interior: west end, original rear hall, has a wooden door-frame with depressed-arch head, slightly chamfered, C16 (ex situ). Ceiling beam straight-chamfered with stepped stops. Original door passage incorporated into central room in C18, this room has a large open fireplace with straight- chamfered lintel and stone jambs, C18. (R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p.35(6).)
