GV II Shall be upgraded to II* (Star) and the description shill be amended to read:-
Detached farmhouse. Second half C15 or early C16; altered early C17 (floor and stack inserted); with C19 re-fashioning and C20 repairs. Stone walls, rendered and washed. Thatch roof. Open-hall house with through-passage plan. Roof gabled with C20 brick stacks at left-hand gable, ridge left of centre, and at right-hand gable. 1½ storeys. 3 windows, 2-light wood casements with horizontal glazing-bars, wood cills and lintels, C19 and C20. Three gabled half-dormers over with thatch roofs, C19. Front door, left of centre, plank- and-muntin door, wood frame. C20 porch on wood columns, gabled thatch canopy over.
Rear: central 3-light ground-floor window is C17, having timber lintel, wood frame with moulded jambs and chamfered mullions (moulded on the inside), lead cames tied to wood stanchions and old glass.
Interior: a blocked former doorway (now with window) opposite existing doorway indicates position of probable through-passage. The most important internal feature is the late-medieval roof structure, supported on base crucks: 4 principal rafter trusses with cambered collars; large-scantling, diagonally-set ridge- piece; wall-plate and 2 sets of chamfered, scarf-jointed trenched purlins; 2 tiers of chamfered, curved wind braces, most surviving; smoke blackening throughout; at truss near inserted stack, traces of original partition wall below collar (which would have formed one side of the through-passage); left- hand gable is of wattle and daub. C17 features include the central stack with its ground-floor fireplace which has a deep timber lintel with chamfered, triangular-arched soffit; the compartmented ceiling in central room with deeply- chamfered beams; and the flooring over the 2 right-hand rooms (altered).
