ST 40 SW BROADWINDSOR THE SQUARE, WEST SIDE 11-11-1966 4/64 King Charles Cottage (formerly listed as Cottage 10 yds W of George Inn) GV II
Attached Cottage. c.1800, c.C16/C17 core. Rubble stone walls and large quoins at left hand. Roman tile roof with stone gable-coping at left hand. One rendered stack at left hand. 2 storeys. 2 windows, 3-light C20 wooden casements with glazing-bars. Wooden lintels. Front door at right hand ground, plank and muntin style, studded, with wooden lintel over, C20. Stone tablet with: "King Charles II slept here September 23-24 1651. Erected April 4th 1902". Interior: mid- chamfered ceiling-beams. Roof: jointed-crucks with large collar beams. c.Cl6/17.
