Description
1. HIGH WEST STREET 5191
(South Side ) No 6 (Formerly listed as Judge Jeffrey's Lodgings). SY 6990 7/45 II* GV 2. C17. On site of Abbot of Abbotsbury's town house. Timber-framing and plaster. 3 storeys and cellar. Slate roof. Ground floor, which projects, has dentilled cornice with stop-moulded posts. Between these are windows and 2 circular-headed porches, with drop finials and ornamental spandrels. 2 ledged doors (1 original) in moulded frames. On 1st floor are 2 square bays, one 8 light, 1 6 light, with transomes. 2nd floor, which overhangs, has 2 6-light oriels. Small gallery between bays on 1st floor. Interior retains many original features, but there has been much restoration both externally and internally.
