BEAMINSTER NEWTOWN ST 40 SE 4/100 Whatley Mill GV II
Detached House, formerly Flax-Mill, c. 1830. Rubble-stone walls. Slate roof with gable ends. One stone bellcote on south east gable end with flat cap. C20 brick chimney at opposite gable-end. One eaves stacks, early C20. 2 storeys and attics. 4 windows, 2-light casements with C20 wood frames. Stone lintels and keys. Loading bay in attic gable, now with plastic weatherboarding and a pitched slate roof. Front door, on gable- end, plank with 7 glass panels. Wooden frame. C20. Interior: datestone F. 1836 in attic (for William Frampton). Heavy square-section beams, chamfered with tongued stops. Roof, high-collars with 2 sets of butt- purlins. Large iron bracket at ridge.
