Description
1. 5186 WALLISDOWN ROAD (North Side) Church of St Mark (including Tower) SZ 0694 5/54 4.8.72.
B (Tower) C (Church II
2. 1868-7O, Evans and Fletcher. Purbeck stone rubble with dressings. Tall 4-stage tower of Somerset Perpendicular outline but Early English detail: 2 light belfry window (plate tracery) flanked by 2 blind lancets, clock face in arched triangle below on south and east (wheel window on north and west), corbelled circular stair turret to north-east. Aisleless church with transepts. 2-light Decorated windows to nave, 3-light to gables of chancel and transepts. South porch 1970. Interior modernised except pulpit: octagonal with trefoil arches on pink marble colonnettes. Picturesque landscaped churchyard with clipped beech hedges enclosing the forecourt.
All the listed buildings in Wallisdown Road and Columbia Road form a group.
