II
Former vicarage, now private house. Original (rear) wing late C16-early C17. Front range early-mid C19. Front range has brick walls, low pitched slate roof, 2 brick stacks at rear. 2 storeys. Central C20 glazed door in original round arched opening. Ground floor has 2 sashes with glazing bars under gauged arches. 3 similar sashes on first floor. In left gable wall, one similar sash on each floor. Rear wing originally timber framed - framing exposed externally in end gable wall. Main walls rebuilt or refaced in brick. Slate roof replacing thatch. One brick stack near centre. One storey and attic. Entrance front has added timber gabled porch with glazed door. Ground floor has 5 casements with lead lights. Attic has 2 hipped dormers, built up in timber framing, with similar casements. At left end, a slated lean-to with projecting stack. Lean-to at rear has casements with cast iron lattice glazing. Internally, in this range, main ground floor room has large open fireplace with timber lintel. C20 stair in C17 style with splat balusters. Several deep chamfered and stopped ceiling beams. Some original timber framed partitions and roof trusses, - the main collar beams cut away for inserted doors. (R.C.H.M. Monument 6. Dorset Vol V).
