Description

WITCHAMPTON ST 90 SE 4/108 Hemsworth House II Farmhouse. Original range C16 (RCHM), enlarged to south west in early C19; front wall of original range altered in late C19. Original range has walls of flint and brick, the front wall now roughcast, with smooth plaster window surrounds. Slate roof, hipped at right end, brick stack at left end. Later range on left has plastered walls, slate roof with overhanging verge and bargeboard, brick stack at left end with oversailing cap and recessed arched panels. L-shaped plan, with original range extending to rear at right end. 2 storeys. On main front, original range has C19 semi-octagonal glazed porch, with part glazed door. Ground floor has 2 sashes with glazing bars. First floor has 3 casements with centre horizontal bar. Early C19 range at left end, has 2 sashes with glazing bars on each floor. At rear of rear wing of original range an added C19 cottage, - this not of special interest. Internally, some deep chamfered ceiling beams, raised panel doors, and C18 fireplaces. (R.C.H.M.
