Former Town Hall, ground floor now used as Museum. C17 origin, largely rebuilt c1774. Walls of rubble stone up to first floor level and brick above; plat band at first floor level. Stone slate roof. Elevation to road has, on ground floor, 2 panelled doors, one stone mullioned window with lead lights, and a small plain window. First floor has 2 round-headed windows with lead lights in stone surrounds with projecting keystones. Similar window in north gable wall. First floor room - the former Council Chamber, has ornamental plaster cornice. (RCHM, Monument 4. Dorset. Vol. II).
