HIGH STREET 1. 5190 (north side) The Stone Quay and stone sea retaining wall between the Stone Quay and the ramp adjoining The Parade
SZ 0378 NW 5/55 II 2.
Built in the early C19 by William Morton Pitt for the stone export and fishing industries. Purbeck Stone structure with curved end, projecting into the sea. Parapet on east side. Parapet of ashlar, main structure of rubble. Projecting stone groyne to the east. Above and adjoining the retaining wall can be seen the remains of the stone tramway.
