9/4 Stables 50 metres south west of Athelhampton Hall
GV II*
Former stable block, converted to tea room. Early C17, altered C20. Ashlar stone walls with brickwork above. Thatch roof, hipped at both ends. 1½ storeys. Irregular fenestration. Window with depressed arch in a square head. Immediately right of this, doorway with straight-chamfered jambs continuous into the depressed arch head. Plank and muntin door. Right of this a depressed arch window in a square head. Above this are two 3-light casements with ovolo-mould wood mullions and lead lights. Interior: stone flagging and brick floors. The coach house at right angles to rear is not of special interest.
