Description

Limited excavations were carried out by the Salisbury Museum Archaeological Research Group in 1975 on the site of a former pottery kiln at Crendell Site 3. The excavations revealed the greater part of the kiln floor and flue. The kiln belonged to the second half of the eighteenth century, but the large quantities of pottery waster sherds redeposited within the insulating mound were of an earlier date. (1)(2)
