Description
NRHE: Site code: DSWF 91 and DSCF 91. Excavation in advance of flood works in Walnut Tree Field. Mesolithic finds, a Neolithic settlement, medievalboundaries, and a cemetery, which may be part of the church cemetery butnow outside its boundaries, were found. The name of the church has been confused in the several different publications concerning this site. It was refered to as St Peter's in theProceedings of the Dorset Natural History and Archaeology Society, but in all other publications, including the site report, was called St Mary's. The OS map for the village has it as St Mary's Church.
