Description

This barrow was excavated in 1969. The mound had been dug into in the past and was much reduced by ploughing. It covered the remains of a cremation pyre with fragments of human bone and sherds of a pot of late Iron Age or early Romano-British type. A scatter of flint was also found. The barrow mound lay within a mound almost square in plan, with sides about 50 feet long; the south side was parallel to and appeared to be later than the adjacent boundary dyke.
