Description

Wessex Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation of land designated as Poundbury Phase II, in advance of a proposed light industrial development. The evaluation comprised geophysical and fieldwalking survey and trial trench excavation. The field walking survey was based on the National Grid and divided into 25m transects. A low density of flint was recovered from across the survey area with no clear concentrations of material. A scatter of post-medieval pottery and building material indicated that the field had been under continuous cultivation and/or manuring for a considerable number of years.
