Description
Terrain Archaeology carried out an evaluation of land proposed for development in the disused farmyard of Fordington Farm in July 2005. A single small trench 3.9m by 1.1m across and 0.5m deep was excavated. This revealed a buried post-medieval soil layer above the natural chalk, sealed by a flint cobbled surface, which was, in turn, sealed by the present concrete yard surface. A small quantity of residual worked flint and Roman pottery was recovered.
