Description
Part of a human skull was reported to have been found during the summer at about SY 70618996 in Twenty Acre Field on the east side of Syward Road, a site scheduled for development as Came View housing estate. No other indications of burial were found, and the trench across the field did not reveal any sign of pits or ditches in the natural chalk, which rises to within a foot of the surface [1].
The remains were noted in a pit about 5 feet deep behind the present no.15 Casterbridge Road [2].
A range of pottery from prehistoric to Medieval were recovered from the backfilled (service?) trench [1].
