Description

Mr. Bull observed a probable Roman Road while he supervised the excavation of a trench for a drain during 1895, outside the carriage works, later Tilley's Cycle Showrooms, South Street, Dorchester [1][2]. A piece of soiled grouted road, thought to be Roman and to tend northwards in the direction of Trinity Street, was seen [2]. It lay several feet below the late 19th century roadway [1].
