Description

Archaeological observations were made during the demolition and rebuilding of Mansfield's Shoe-Shop, 16 Cornhill, Dorchester during 1983. It was revealed that the early 19th century brick front concealed a substantially altered timber framed building, the existence of which was not realised in time for it to be recorded. At the rear of the site at least five wells filled up with post-medieval material were noticed. No earlier features or finds were recorded.
