Description
C J S Green observed the excavation during 1979 of a gas pipe trench along the west side of Church Street, Dorchester. A fragment of E-W aligned Roman road, previously recorded outside the Methodist Church in South Street, was encountered. In the north section of Church Street traces of foundations and superimposed chalk and mortar floors and occupation levels were observed to a depth of nearly 1m.
