Description

C J S Green observed the laying of gas pipes immediately east of the Conservative Club, South Walks, Dorchester during 1965. The lip of the counterscarp bank for the Roman town defences was observed approximately 70ft from the wall of South Walks Road suggesting a reduction in the overall width of the defences in this area compared to the SW corner of the town.
