Description

A field survey was conducted at 48 South Street, Dorchester, the site of the discovery of a Roman building and tesselated pavement, by J. Rigg. of the Ordnance Survey Archaeological Division on the 21 August 1954. His field notes are recorded on the OS record card as follows. 48A and 48B South street are occupied as commercial premises the manager of which knew nothing of the finds nor the date of the building construction.
