Description

A site visit was conducted by J. Rigg of the Ordnance Survey Archaeological Division on the 21 August 1954 at the site of two barrows excavated by Cunnington in 1864, under the Roman vallum, at the southeast angle of Dorchester, i.e. the east end of South Walks, Dorchester. His site notes are recorded in the OS record card as follows. The site is occupied by an overgrown garden and no trace of a barrow remains. There were no surface finds. Nothing is shown on OS 1/500 1887 at this spot.
