Description

A site visit was conducted by J. Rigg of the Ordnance Survey Archaeological Division on the 1 September 1954 at the site of the discovery of Late Bronze Age bronze rings and palstaves from Eglesham Meadow, Dorchester. His site notes are recorded in the OS record card as follows. Two LBA Bronze rings and palstaves in DCM from Eglesham Meadow. Neither the owners nor the tenants of the land knew the field indicated as Eglesham Meadows. Tithe maps were of no assistance. The field is grass covered and lies in a near floodplain [1].
