Description
A site visit was conducted by J. Rigg of the Ordnance Survey Archaeological Division on the 1 September 1954 at the site of the discovery of an Early Iron Age inhumation and horse burial during the excavation of the Harvey vault, north of the west end of St George’s Church, Dorchester. His site notes are recorded in the OS record card as follows.
SY69849057. A plaque inside the church indicates the site of the Harvey vault. The churchyard has not been in general use for burials for a number of years [1].
