Description

CKC Archaeology was comissioned by Christchurch Borough Council to conduct an archaeological watching brief during groundworks for a new boundary wall for Wick Lane car park at the rear of no. 13 Wick Lane on 18th Feb 2005. A 10.6m long footings trench failed to reveal any archaeological finds or features. The had had been though to lie across the line of the Saxon burh defences, but no traces of these were observed. Loamy sand garden-type soils extended to the bottom of the trench.
