Description

Evidence for a small tobacco pipe kiln was observed by Mr P A Brown during demolition work on the east side of North Street, close to the south side of St Martin's Church. A quantity of clay tobacco pipes and a piece of fire-brick were subsequently recovered from spoil from the site. The tobacco pipes were of eighteenth-century date.
