Description

AC Archaeology carried out a watching brief during the construction of a new building at land to the rear of 142-146 Blandford Road, Hamworthy Poole in January 2010. Observations were undertaken during the digging of the footings and of a soakaway. Over most of the site there was a layer of dark grey-brown soil up to 450 mm thick overlying the yellow-brown sandy gravel natural. In the NE corner of the footprint of the new building was a layer of gravel which was interpreted as part of the gravels of a Roman road.
