Description

Observations and recording during groundworks for a ticket machine. A trench measuring 2m x 1m was excavated to provide a base for the new machine, but its location was changed following a complaint from a resident, and excavation stopped at an unknown but shallow depth. A second trench measuring 2m x 1m was dug about 0.5m to the south of the original. This trench was excavated to approximately 0.6m in depth. Both trenches were excavated by hand after the concrete was broken using an air powered breaker. One soil profile was recorded from the second trench. No archaeological features or deposits were observed and no finds were recovered.
