Description
Observations and recording in 1992 during groundworks for an extension to the Wessex Water sewage treatment plant. Topsoil was removed from an area around 0.55 ha. Artefacts in the form of heavily-patinated worked and burnt flint were noted but not collected. A number of features were revealed in the stripped area, comprising several linear features, 17 small pits and a number of stakeholes. At least one cross-section was excavated across each linear feature, and pits were half sectioned then fully excavated after recording. Pottery and worked flint from the fillings of some of the feature suggested a prehistoric date.
