Description

Road-straightening operations at Ulwell, Swanage in 1961, cut through the site where Mesolithic occupation has been recorded. A single visit by R A H Farrar produced two flakes not specifically mesolithic in character, together with several sherds of 12th or 13th century domestic pottery and oyster and other shell from the same horizon. Mr J B Calkin also made many visits, but found little other than a flint scraper, a flint core of Mesolithic form and a core-sharpening flake of chert.(1)
