Description

Area A7 is a detailed gradiometer survey area, which formed part of the larger geophysical survey undertaken along the route of a new water supply main between the Wessex Water works at Corfe Mullen, Dorset to Camp Hill Storage Tank near Salisbury, Wiltshire. No anomalies of probable archaeological origin have been identified in area A7. Possible archaeology is represented by a band of discrete positive responses indicative of former cut features which may be associated with former pits or possible tree bowls across much of area A7 (but a spread of anomalies such as these may also be of a natural (geological or pedological) origin (Anomaly 397) and several magnetic spikes indicative of ferrous materials in the centre of the area (Anomaly 398). The record for this event has been created with support from Wessex Water.
