Description

Geophysical survey produced a positive rectilinear anomaly according with the location and morphology of the recorded enlosure partly in Bowley's Plantation; this was interpreted as representing the silted-up ditch of the enclosure. Other anomalies included an east-west oriented linear anomaly, possibly a ditch or drain, and a positive curvilinear anomaly coinciding with a former field boundary shown on historic maps. A number of weak and uncertain anomalies were identified, but interpreted a being more likely to relate to underlying soil/geological variations or agricultural activity. Other anomalies included two pipes and scattered anomalies interpreted as debris of modern origin. One group of ferrous anomalies within the enclosure, and in a linear pattern, may represent a former fence.
