Description
Two trial pits each measuring 1m by 1m and situated within the footprint of the proposed development were excavated by hand. This revealed deep topsoil overlying natural gravels in both pits. The southernmost pit was excavated to 1.1m below the present ground surface. A small quantiity of post-medieval artefacts was recovered from the topsoil. No archaeological deposits or features were observed.
