Description
Fluxgate gradiometer survey of an area proposed for a quarry extension. A number of anomalies of probable archaeological origin were identified. Two positive linear anomalies were interpreted as former field boundaries, one at the eastern edge of the survey area corresponding to a boundary shown on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map, and another at right angles to it. A concentration of positive sub-circular anomalies were interpreted as being potentially of archaeological significance, possibly pits or post holes, and perhaps enclosed by an adjacent linear anomaly.
