Description

Contour survey and excavation following a desk-based assessment and subsequent evaluation. Excavation of six trenches produced a small assemblage of worked flint, including material of Mesolithic and Bronze Age date, although no prehistoric features were identified. A possible palaeochannel was recorded. An earthwork enclosure on higher ground in the south-eastern part of the site was shown to be post-medieval and probably of late 18th or 19th-century date. No trace of features recorded in the 1839 tithe apportionment (houses, a barn and stables) was found in the excavation.
