Description

Archaeological evaluation in the form of the machine excavation of 57 trenches. Most of the trenches revealed no evidence of archaeological activity. Four trenches contained features comprising ditches, a posthole and a layer. Three of the trenches were in the northern part of the site, but were not felt to indicate a concentration of activity. The ditches produced worked flint and pottery of Iron age and medieval date. An undated ditch in the south of the site was aligned to modern day field boundaries and thought likely to be of post-medieval or modern date.
