Description

Observation and recording while foundations for house extension were being dug. The trenches were excavated by a flat-bed mechanical excavator and were 0.6m wide and 0.6m deep. There was approximately 0.1m of dark brown sandy loam topsoil overlaying grey light brown subsoil, consisting of moderately sized gravels in sand, which were excavated to a depth of 0.5m. The spoil was inspected for finds. Finds include worked flint, burnt flint, glass, pottery and building material. All except the worked flint were dated to late 19th to 20th century. No archaeological features were recorded.
