Description

Observations and recording during erection of new fencing. No archaeological deposits or features were recorded. A small quantity of worked flint and Middle to Late Iron Age/Roman pottery was recovered from Long Field and Barn field. The flint was concentrated at the southern end of Barn Field, close to a similar concentration noted by Bushe-Fox during excavations in 1911-12; it may be part of a Late Neolithic activity area in this part of Hengistbury Head.
