Description

An impact assessment was carried out prior to restoration of a Duck Decoy on behalf of the Ilchester Estates to determine the likely impact on the archaeological potential and historical significance of the Decoy, a scheduled monument and its adjacent inter-tidal margins. Comparative historical evidence and map regression were used and each element of the proposed restoration considered in this context. A mitigration strategy was proposed for each element. Overall it was concluded that the restoration would have minimal impact on the archaeological potential of the site.
