Description

Archaeological monitoring took place during the construction of a concrete foundation for an outbuilding within the projected area of the Dorset Cursus. Soil and overburden were removed by mini 360 degree mechanical excavator using a toothless grading bucket. An existing concrete slab was removed. A shallow footing 300mm wide was dug around the perimeter of the site and the area scanned for finds and archaeological features. No archaeological features were noted to the depth of the groundworks and no artefacts were found in the area of work nor the spoil heaps.
