Description

Investigations by Professor Buckman at some point before 1878 of a field described as being 50 acres and on the north side of East Hill from which surface finds of Roman date had been recovered. This revealed stone-paved floors and two or three flask-shaped kilns built of local stone. Finds included stone roofing slates, quern stones, shale bracelets, and black and red coarse pottery.
