Description

Archaeological observations and recording were undertaken at Bowling Alley Walk, Dorchester, Dorset (NGR 369125 90348), on 20/09/2016 by Wessex Archaeology for West Dorset District Council. The works were carried out to allow assessment of the footing for a collapsed brick wall along the north side of Bowling Alley Walk prior to its repair, and comprised a single hand-dug test-pit 0.53 metre deep, dug against one of the buttresses. The local soil deposit sequence was recorded, but no features, deposits of finds of archaeological significance were identified during the work.
