EDO7266 - Whitcombe Cottages, Whitcombe; observations and recording 2003

essex Archaeology was commissioned by British Telecom to undertake an archaeological watching brief at Whitcombe Cottaged, Whitcombe, Dorset. A service trench 0.30m wide was excavated in close proximity to Scheduled and other archaeologically sensitive medieval and post-medieval settlement remains (Dorset M851). Works were undertaken on behalf of British Telecom and provided below-ground telephone connections for six Grade II Listed properties, allowing removal of existing overhead services. No archaeological features or artefacts were identified during the watching brief.
