Description

Lilian Ladle conducted a watching brief during the construction of a driveway for a house extension at 4 Roper's Lane in May 1993. 18 tons of topsoil were removed to a depth of 1m from an area 25ft long and tapering from 17 to 9½ feet wide. No archaeological features were revealed but one sherd of 12th-century cooking pot and a copper alloy object were recovered from the spoil.
