Description

Monitoring of groundworks at the early 19th century house located evidence for a dwelling destroyed in the 1762 Fire of Wareham. Three construction trenches were dug to the east of the house to a depth of 0.6m. Only one was observed properly as the other two were backfilled before observations could be made. In other rooms the exposed floor was observed where possible. 143g of medieval pottery were recovered including eleven sherds from a 13th century cooking pot. Post-medieval pottery was recovered from all investigated areas.
