Description
A barrow on Killwood Heath, now known as Creech Heath, was opened in December 1865 by W J Pike. The barrow as about 25 feet in diameter and 9 or 10 feet high. In the centre Pike found a primary cremation with a garnet-like object. The section of the mound showed a laminated structure, as though built of turves. There are several barrows on Creech Heath, but the Icen Barrow seems to be the most likely to be the one excavated.
