Summary

A gatehouse with pavilions on each side, part of the former barracks, built in 1876-7 possibly to a design by Major A C Seddon who was head of the War Office design branch at this time. The building is of rock-faced Portland stone with ashlar dressings and slate roofs, with a crenellated parapet over the central gatehouse.
