Full Description

A house site was in the study area during the 19th century, as shown on the 1844 Tithe map and the 1813 Inclosure map. It possibly dates back to the 1742 map, though this is not clear as there are no property boundaries. The Tithe map records the property as a 'dwelling house, barn, barton, close and meadow' and appears to be L-shaped. This, together with Court Close was occupied by James Harding and owned by the Earl of Ilchester. This site, inexplicably appears to be twice the size of the surrounding plots of land. (1)
