Summary

A farmhouse thought to have been built in the seventeenth century, but much altered in the 19th century. Built of rubble-stone walls with large dressed quoins and some brickwork at the eaves. The roofs are either clay-tile or roman-tile.

Full Description

The farm-house called BROAD STURTHILL is mentioned in an inquisition taken at BLANDFORD in 1639. <1>

The E wing of the house is of 17THC. date, but the rest is modern. <3>

The house and farm buildings now go by the name of LOWER STURTHILL FARM, taking the name from the ruined holding 1100 yds to the S.S.W. <4>

The E. wing is of two storeys, built of stone and some brick, with a modern tiled roof. The wing has 4-light mullioned
windows on the N and S. faces. <5>
